Scenic Views of Taman Tun Dr. Ismail (TTDI)
TTDI is a serene and quiet enclave that sits at the border of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. It was once a dead end of Kuala Lumpur City Centre. But over the years, its proximity to Petaling Jaya – just a 10 minute drive, to One Utama – a mere 20 mins by foot (yes, by foot) and to KLCC -a 15 to 20 minute drive, it has become one of the most convenient residential areas in the Klang Valley.
We’ve compiled three of the best scenic views of TTDI :
#1 TTDI PARK
Undoubtedly one of the best parks in KL, the TTDI park is a popular choice amongst parents, hikers, bikers and joggers. It is well-maintained by the local council and offers loops of well-paved jogging paths and physically challenging inclines. The park sits next to a dense forest, so don’t be alarmed if you encounter mobs of active monkeys looking for treats. If you’re in the mood for hiking, the forest also provides trails for a mini excursion in nature.
Address: Jalan Abang Haji Openg, TTDI Hills, 60000 Kuala Lumpur
#2 Stesen TTDI
To enhance the centrality of TTDI as a location, the MRT location is situated at the edge of the area. It will take you downtown in a nifty. There are free MRT feeder bus stops around the neighbourhood so it’s really convenient for local residents to take public transportation to anywhere in the city.
Address : Stesen Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI) Jalan Damansara 6000 Kuala Lumpur (Station Code: SBK10)
#3 Pasar Besar TTDI
This may not be a panoramic view, but the Pasar Besar TTDI is an icon amongst the local residents. Heavily patronised by expats, this covered market is clean and dry, so there’s no chance of tripping on slippery floors or of coming away with your clothes reeking of fish. For a wet market, it’s not very wet at all. Visit early for dibs on a fair range of vegetables and fruits including hard-to-find ones like Australian mango, artichoke and passion fruit. The stalls are also well-stocked with lentils, fresh tofu, raw honey and other pantry essentials.
The market is neatly compartmentalised compared to most others in town: The ground floor features fresh items like meats, vegetables, wet food and flowers while the first floor houses tailors, baking supply stores, specialised organic shops and a noteworthy food court. The non-halal section on the lower ground floor features pork of all cuts in belly, shank and shoulder. TTDI market has been operating for over 25 years, and after narrowly escaping a teardown due to MRT developments, it looks set to stay. Take note that some vendors don't operate on Mondays.
It was recognised as the cleanest, safest public market by the Health Ministry in 2021 : https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2021/11/24/ttdi-market-recognised-as-cleanest-safest-public-market-by-health-ministry
